Co-founder, writer and drummer of Soulive, Alan Evans proudly presents his newest creation, the Alan Evans Trio. It is without surprise that AE3s sound proves hard-driving and groovy with deep, funky melodies and powerful, rhythmic counter-play, with Beau Sasser on keys and Danny Mayer on guitar, the group is held tightly together by the drum-master himself.
Part of what keeps Alan, Neal, and Eric (the members of Soulive) captivated and inspired, is their constant work and involvement in other musical endeavors. Which is what inspired Alan to create AE3. In addition to this band, Al also does a lot of studio work; recording, mixing, and producing albums for musicians all over the world. This outside work is what allows Soulive to continue killing it on stage and in the studio, since 1999. Neal (Alans brother) is a phenomenal composer and continues scoring movies, such as the HBO series, The Black List among several other projects. Eric Krasno is always involved in something, whether it be DJing, his own EKB, producing tracks in the studio, or touring with friends and colleagues such as a run this Summer with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, where Kraz will be playing bass guitar.
Like all great musicians Al is constantly writing and playing music, pushing the boundaries above and beyond industry standard and creating the rules as he goes along, art in its purest form. Mention the name Alan Evans to a room full of music lovers, and you will get a consensus nod at one of the most celebrated and tenacious drummers in the jazz, funk, and soul scene. A producer, recording engineer, guitarist, percussionist, vocalist and writer, Alans repertoire of skills have been perfected with a lifetime of dedication. Alan has literally been playing drums since the age of two.
Ive known for a long time what my purpose is, and I love to make people happy with the music I create, says Alan about his chosen career path.
